Lippert Components Weight Distribution - Sway Control Only - LC380605 Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Sway Command Electronic Sway Control System. Now, this system is designed for trailers with one to two axles, which would two to four break assemblies, and it is compatible with electric drum trailer breaks.Now this is an electronic sway control system that, ultimately, is designed to limit side to side movement of your trailer when towing. So this unit corrects the sway by activating your trailer's electric breaks. It's more effective than friction sway control systems by correcting sway before it really begins- or before it becomes noticeable.The unit features a solid state gyroscope which senses sway and activates all the trailer breaks simultaneously, and it has an accelerometer that monitors the speed and determines the appropriate break force needed to correct sway at that speed. It also comes with a light pod that mounts no the front of your trailer and signals the system, um, is functioning properly.So what that does is that allows you to look in your rear view mirror and see the status of the sway control system. Solid green illuminates when no issues are detected, and then various green and red light patterns signal when a fault is detected.The unit features a nice molded construction. more

Tuson Electronic Sway Control System Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Tucson electronic sway control system for trailer brakes. Designed to work for one up to four axles. The part number is 335TSC-1000.Now our Tucson sway control system has been designed to constantly monitor our trailer yaw. There's an accelerometer inside that can sense when our trailer starts moving side to side in those sudden onset sway events and will use the trailer brakes to get ahead of that and correct it. Essentially what it's going to use is a proprietary algorithm that can determine the difference between a quick steering situation, like if we're trying to avoid some trash or some debris or something like that on the road, or whether we're in one of those quick onset situations where our trailer is really getting out of control.When it senses the latter, when we're starting to lose that trailer control, this is going to send a signal through the purple and the pink wire, to either the left side or the right side of the trailer, that does this with its superior processing capabilities. This is going to be able to take all the critical elements needed and figure out exactly how much pressure, how much force, should go to each side of the trailer, and in what rhythm and in what pattern to get this under control.We can head down the road, and we won't have to worry about those sway events that can be quite scary and without the proper sway control system, requires a lot of immediate action from the driver to get it back under control.This system handles all of that for us. more

As you can see, we've got our head here fully active weight distribution system, but also active sway control, so if you're in the first group of customers, you don't have a weight distribution system at all right now. You've got a lot of squat on the back of your truck and the front of your trailer. The rear suspension's doing a lot of extra work, and the front axle on your trailer's gonna be doing a lot of extra work. With these bars being fixed mounted to our head, as we draw those up it's just like lifting up the back of a wheelbarrow. more

Reese SC Weight Distribution System with Sway Control Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Reese SC weight distribution system with sway control, part number RP66153. What I like about this system as opposed to other weight distribution systems is it's gonna have brake like material that's gonna cause friction on your spring bar. Now what that's for is for your sway control. That's gonna eliminate the need for an additional sway set up, which is gonna smoothen your ride going down the road.Another thing that's good about this system as opposed to others is you don't have to get out of your vehicle to unhook anything to back up your trailer, you can back it up the way it is. Some of the other ones you have to get out and unhook the additional bar.Now this is gonna be very simple to adjust, you're just gonna loosen your two bolts and you can see the teeth that are in here, once you loosen that you can adjust your ball forwards or backwards and set it where needed. Now this setup's gonna have an 800 pound max tongue weight and a 10,000 pound max trailer weight. more

Pro Series Trunnion Style Weight Distribution Kit Review- Video
Today we're going to be taking a look at the Pro Series Trunnion Style Weight Distribution Kit with Shank, rated for a 1,200 pound tongue weight, and a 12,000 gross trailer weight, part number 49587. Now, we'll show you some footage of the vehicle and trailer out on the road, both with and without weight distribution system. Without the weight distribution system, you can see that it's kind of bouncy, and although the truck does an all right job of pulling this trailer, it creates a bit rougher ride, because there at the hitch it acts as a fulcrum, and it allows it to bounce, and creates a little bit of sway to where it just feels a little bit unstable. With the weight distribution system, as we go over the same section of road and his those bumps, you can see that it's keeping the trailer much more level, and as we hit them, it doesn't feel like as much sway, and therefore not nearly as bouncy, and a smoother ride. Driving this truck both before and after the weight distribution system, there's a very noticeable difference. Driving the truck just feels a lot easier, because it doesn't feel like that trailer is affecting you nearly as much as you're going down the road. Here we've got the truck and trailer without a weight distribution system attached. As you can see, the rear of the truck is squatting down, and therefore the front of the trailer is much lower than the rear of the trailer, which creates for unsafe driving because the front of the truck is lifted up higher, therefore taking pressure off those front wheels, making steering and handling more difficult. more

Now what this system does is it evenly distributes weight over the axles of your tow vehicle and your trailer which is going to offer better stability and better control. Ultimately a weight distribution system is going to create a more level ride for both the tow vehicle and the trailer. Now again, this one's going to have integrated 4 point sway control which is really going to help limit side to side movement of your trailer. We're going to have these brackets right here that are going to keep the spring bars in place for a rigid system that holds the trailer in line at all times. This unit does not use lift chains so that way the spring bars aren't able to move freely, they're going to be held in place and they're going to slide back and forth, which is going to create steel on steel friction. Down here we're going to have 2 points of sway control that are created by the steel on steel friction that occurs when the spring bars slide within these L-brackets that are mounted on the trailer tongue. The other 2 points of sway control are here at the head assembly, it's a really nice feature of the unit. more

It comes with almost everything you need, the adjustable shank, the adjustable head, the spring bar, and the lift bracket, and the lift bracket tool. You will however need to purchase your own hitch ball, make sure it has an inch and a quarter diameter shank. One thing that sets this weight distribution apart from the rest, is its ability to accept bar-style friction sway control on either side of the head. Curt friction sway control is available, part number 17200. It features 3 adjustable points here on the shank, and the head tail has 5 adjustable positions. more
